The Problem

Co-founder Ben Cooper-Woolley spent 12 years in consulting engineering in construction but become increasingly frustrated with the lack of modern tools for monitoring and managing the environmental impact of construction projects. The legacy tools were old, expensive and hard to use. With urban populations growing in close proximity to large numbers of infrastructure projects, Ben saw the need for smaller, cheaper tools for monitoring noise, dust, vibration, and water quality.

The Solution

Ben met co-founder Adam Ferguson at an Antler startup residency and together conceived of a better way of delivering the technology needed. They identified optical particle counter technology alongside standard noise, vibration and media sensors for capturing data. The idea was to provide real-time data, audio and images on a range of environmental measures. This information would then be transmitted to the cloud where it could be displayed. Site teams could then proactively manage a project’s environmental impact. The end result was SiteHive.

The Scope

On this project Xentronics worked closely with site hive to deliver the following:

Award winning technology

Sitehive was awarded a Good Design Award for excellent design. A particularly innovative part of the project was the modularity of the core PCB technology and an integrated communication bus that allowed the device to integrated seamlessly into SiteHive’s existing hardware stack. The platform also facilitates a proprietary sensor configuration method underpinning the technology’s versatility.
